*** O Canelé by Céline - 315 East 86th St. - The "Canelés" are mini teacakes from Bordeaux, made of crêpe batter slowly baked and caramelized. Chef Céline created several flavors for her little marvels. The location, that also has great Financier cakes and other pastries, is in a suite. * Paris Baguette - 6 west 32th St. - Lex Ave & 52th - It is actually Korean (French should trade mark the name Baguette!). *** O Payard [P] - Several locations in NY - From Pastries, Macaroons (2nd best after La Durée) to Chocolates, everything is tempting and delicious. The chef from Nice has expended his network with a shop at the Plaza Food Hall and a new pastry shop at 1293 3rd Avenue www.payard.com
*** O Petrossian - 182 West 58th Street - The Petrossian pastry and chocolate collection is surprising: Babas au rhum, Chocolate Pearls, Kaffir, Thyme or Chile Lemon Chocolates, Nougats, Calissons, etc. Most produces are made in France and at fair Petrossian prices. www.petrossian.com
